calcium-ized

June 11, 2007

Yo! School’s back, and I’m in 9-Calcium — just as I had suspected.

Well, I kinda like my Grade 9 life at the moment, but I’m sure I won’t like it much months after. Hmm… I don’t feel like I’m in the 3rd year of my high school life now… Woot. Time flies by so fast. Haha.

I don’t like first days in school. Nakauumay na… sobra… All we students do is the same: introduce ourselves, introduce ourselves, introduce ourselves! I most especially don’t like the thinking parts of these first days, “Tell something that your classmates don’t know” is an example. At least they’re over. Almost.

The elementary people have infiltrated the high school building. :P But, don’t worry about them, cause they’re going back to their nook when repairs are done in about two months.

Hmm. I hate Mondays too. Flag ceremonies are going to be held an hour earlier than the start of the actual classes: 7 AM. Ehh… That’s too much! I swear I am still sleeping during that time. :P Also, the Ca people’s sked during Mondays (and Thursdays too) is boring. Wow. Filipino after Algebra. 3 hours straight of boredom. I wish I can survive. Wish me luck.

Oh. Filipino. We’re going to study Rizal’s life this quarter, then the first 34 chapter of Noli the next, then the remaining part of Noli Me Tangere during the third quarter, and El Filibusterismo during the last quarter. Wow.

Music is going to be okay. Western music is our course for the year.  Last year, we focused on Afro-Asian music. We did Philippine music during the first year. Sadly, there will be no Music 10, as Music 9 is the last year that we will be taught. In Grade 10, Music is just an elective.

Oh noes. Journ. Wow. I thought I escaped those balitaan sessions in Social Studies, but no. They had to be incorporated in Journalism. Well, kinda. We have current events quizzes in Journ. Every meeting, I think.

English 9. I think it’s going to be fun. I bought almost all of my HRR books already: Merchant of Venice, House of the Scorpion, and Lord of the Flies. The only book I lack is the one we need to have had by this quarter: The Crystal Cave. Jeez. That book is soooooo rare. I haven’t found a copy yet, in all of the times I have scavenged through book stores.

Chemistry. Well, I’m about to relearn the stuff that I studied during vacation. I hope that I understood well.

Oh. P.E. Eww. Basketball. No. I don’t do basketball, sorry.

All I can say that Grade 9 is going to be an interesting year. I think that I am actually looking forward to this year. Optimism. :P

Beware. :P

Farewell :)

May 28, 2007

Even the clouds wept with us.

Last Saturday was the second-to-the-last day of our Parish Priest, Fr. Emmanuel del Rosario, in our parish here in Tandang Sora. I had lost not only a priest, but also a friend.

He is one of the strictest people I could ever recall, saying things frankly, although usually in a harsh manner. He is an artist, filling our church and his pad with different works of art. He is also a singer, regularly checking up the Grand Choir’s singing during important occasions, and singing songs during mass with the congregation as well as the choir. He is, after all, a priest.

He was the priest with whom I received my First Communion, the first time I communed with the Lord. He was the priest when I had my Sacrament of Confirmation. He was the priest when I played in mass for the first time. He was the priest when I first joined a choir. He was the priest when I became active in church activities. He was the priest with which I achieved many firsts.

I’m not sure if there are any lasts with him, but I’m sure that my memories with him will last for a long time.

He says he had become at home and at ease in our community. I think so too. If given a choice, he says that he would stay here and serve God here. I would like so too.

But everything has an end. Good times and bad ones do end. Although sad because of his parting us, I am, at the same time, filled with joy, for he will share his talents with other people besides us. We have had our turn, after all. Now, it’s others’.

Thanks, Pads, for everything. :) If, by any chance, you get to read this particular post of mine, I would like you to know that my life changed during your term here. I thank you for that. Hanggang sa uulitin! Ingat po kayo!

Really interesting day, this is

May 25, 2007

Hmmm…

First, the wedding thingy. Second, The teambuilding thingy. Third, my itchy scratchy thingy. Fourth, I get locked out of Kuya’s room, with the key inside his room. Fifth, I came home with sore joints. Napilayan pa nga yata ako -_-

LoL. Halp! Should I go on with the wedding? :P Maybe not. Haha!

"Family" Teambuilding Day.

May 25, 2007

Today is Los Baños Day for Mom, Dad, Ate, and of course, the youngest. I packed my things overnight, Mom said that we were going to swim, swim, swim! :P

Actually, this family outing is one of the products of the main agenda for today.

As you might know by now, my Mom works in DoST. So there. Today, they had a teambuilding in Forest Club, which is in Los Baños, Laguna.

We were late, as usual, because of you-know-who. (Shhh, no telly!) And we had quite an interesting day ahead.

We got lost because of the incorrect wordings of the directions that were given to us. To top it all off, during our way to the Club, there was a pop inside the car. It sounded like a plastic popping, and the car had quite a repugnant smell afterwards. I wonder what that is. So we went down the car, and rode again after a few minutes of breathing fresh air.

And then, lo and behold, we were inside the big blue iron gates of the Club.

The Club is a really nice place. With an enclosed spacious nipa hut for large gatherings such as these, with pools for both adults and children, and with obstacle courses, this said place is housed under the shade of towering trees.

So I went inside the function hut and ate snacks. People were wearing either red, blue, or green shirts. Apparently, they were the teams for the teambuilding games. :P Mom was in the Green team. And Blue lacked two, so Ate and I joined the fun. Hihihihihi. :P

So there were 5 events: rafting, log-crossing, single-rope crossing, obstacle course, and ski relay. All of these events were timed, and the team with the best time won.

Rafting: Two people are on a raft. You try to go back and forth the “swamp” by tugging on a rope stretched across your court. Every time a person falls into the pond (not a swamp :P ), 20 points are minused from your score.

Log-Crossing: You cross a log. You fall, you get drenched into the muddy depths of the pond, plus, you get demerits for your team.

Singe-Rope Crossing: There are two parallel ropes. One below, one above. You step on the rope below, you hold onto the rope above. You cross the pond.

Obstacle Course: You crawl under a net, go across some tires, cross an elevated log, go around a chair, cross the log again, etc. Every time you make a mistake, you repeat the part of the course with which you made a mistake on.

Ski Relay: 5 pairs of slippers are nailed onto two boards. Your goal is to go with your team and go around a chair, and make it back to your starting position. Lifting the boards will cost demerits.

Well, the blue team topped the first 3 courses. :P I fell off the log and into the pond. My slippers got lost, but they were later recovered. :P (Help me! I’m itching right now! I took a bath after the entire game though. O_o) We were last in the obstacle course and the relay. :P I even got a wound on my thigh because of the crawling part of the course. :P

WE WON! Hahaha. :P Second in place was Team Green, and last was Team Red. So there. :)

There was the awarding ceremony for the other events of the day, and then we ate some snacks and went home. :P

Ate and I got two blue glasses, and Mom got a green one.

*scritch, scratch*

Onii-chan is coming to town!

May 25, 2007

Weee! Haha. Kuya’s coming home this Tuesday, and I can’t even say that I’m glad or something. Can’t tell. Maybe I’ve just gone too apathetic to him so as not to care what he does or even how he is doing. We don’t even talk much. Maybe it’s just because of the uber big age gap between us. Uhh… 12 years, I think? Or was it 13? Hmm…

See why? LoL. When I was a grade schooler, he’d tease me when he’d drive me on the way to school, and I end up getting mad at him because he did so, only realizing why he did that when I was a lot older. Maybe he gave up on me. I dunno.

Before he left for the States, he gave me his clothes and shoes that he left behind. I wanted to thank him, but I was shy. So I just sent him an e-mail saying so.

When my family would go to our relatives next door to call Kuya in the States, I wouldn’t want to come, for what would I tell him? Even if I did, I wouldn’t talk to him.

Mom has been reiterating that I should be closer to him. But I guess I’m too shy.

:-

Hmmm… Premonitions, premonitions…

May 25, 2007

Today, we went to Los Baños. But no, that’s not what I’m going to talk about. :P

I woke up at around 6 A.M. feeling groggy… So I went downstairs and slept on the sofa.

ZzzzzzzzZzzzzzz…

No dreams for me, but my Ate did.

She woke me up, saying that she dreamt about me.

Well, I was kinda flattered. Nah!

She had a nightmare. The gist of her nightmare was that a bride took me as a pianist during her wedding this Sunday, May 27. The catch is, if I make a mistake in playing, she won’t return me to my family. There was one problem though: the bride wanted me to play another version of The Lord’s Prayer. I couldn’t play it. There was not much time, apparently the date of the wedding being two days from now…

Her dream was cut short.

Then Ate was beside me, waking my tired body which was lying spread-eagled onto the sofa.

So the day went by smoothly. We went to Los Baños, and headed home via Mount Makiling. My cellphone rang when we were halfway through the mountain.

“Hello Anjo, si Tita Tess (one of the instrumentalists in our church) ‘to. Pwede ka bang tumugtog sa kasal bukas?”

k-k-k-kasal!

I mouthed the words “tugtog daw ako sa kasal” to my Ate, who was violently opposing the thought.

Well, after a few minutes of discussion, I told Tita Tess that I would see if I can play tomorrow, seeing that I have had not much practice (although I know I can do it flawlessly :P LoL. Conceited. :P Just kidding.), and the wedding is less than 24 hours away.

Oh, and there’s Ate’s dream to consider. :P

Well, I declined the proposal to play in the wedding. It was supposed to be my first wedding too, saying, “Sa susunod na lang po, may lakad po kasi kami bukas eh. Sorry po,” when we have none… O_o

P.S. Oooohhhh! Pang True Philippine Ghost Stories ang kuwento! Haha. :P Labo.

Bizarre Me. — Part 2

May 25, 2007

Sooo… I’m officially on writer mode tonight! *claps* Once again, enjoy the sudden influx of entries. :)

Well, I decided to make a part 2 of my previous post. :) Here:

1. I drown my food in a pool of ketchup whenever I eat ketchup-okay food.

2. Among all the ketchup varieties, I prefer tomato ketchup the most.

3. I can make my nostrils go wider then back to normal size. :P

4. (Okay, I’ve a toe issue too. :P ) I often look at other people’s toes whenever I get a chance to. :P

5. I sometimes act like Spiderman and use my acrobatic skills to go atop our roof and hang out there.

6. I, as a wee kid, have never had — and enjoyed — a lot of boyish toys. Really. I preferred the more intellectual type of toys rather than those requiring self-made sound effects and a broad imagination.

“Tsssssewww tsseeeeeww! Oh no! The enemy’s here! Power Rangers SPD! Tenenenenenen! Yey! Tuggshhhhhhh tuggggssshhh! Tenenenen! Batman!”

7. I have been sleeping real late since I was… uhh… really young. :P When I was really young and I slept between my Mom and my Dad, my so-called bedtime was about 9. After my Mom tells me to sleep, I curl up beside her, and pretend to sleep, all the while watching TV. :P And when I started to have my own room, I had freedom to sleep whenever I can. I can’t seem to put down those books that I read then, so I somehow manage to stay awake ’til 12 or 1.

8. I haven’t ridden in a boat before. You know, Super Ferry-ish boats.

There. Eight. :)

Bizarre me.

May 11, 2007

Not only because Reniel tagged me that I did this, but also because I found the topic interesting… Sharing your own weirdness to the world. Coolness, dude! Haha. Who knows, I might even find someone as weird as I am. ^_^ Anyway, here goes!

1. When I was young, maybe 7 or 8, I ate raw noodles :P Don’t blame me, I couldn’t cook my own food then, and there was usually nobody around to cook food for me…

2. I can bend my left index finger in such a way that the nail touches the back part of the hand. Oh, and so can my left middle finger. :)

3. Jollibee, yes, that red flightless bee, scared me so much when I was about 5. Why wouldn’t anyone be scared of a freaky dancing mascot whose smile is so wide that it may eat you alive? Why wouldn’t anyone be afraid of a “jolly” mascot with such big, ogling eyes that small kids can fit in them? Answer me! Answeeeeeeer meeeeee!!!! Anyway…

4. I am a frustrated swimmer. Freestyle is sooooooooo not my style. I don’t even plan on studying the other swimming styles. *shudders*

5. I do soccer. :) Well, I like playing it. LoL. I guess you think that I only do board games and such. Haha. Nosiree!

6. I listen to classical music and oldies. As a matter of fact, I prefer these much more than hardcore rock or rap.

7. I eat Milo + Nido. Sometimes when there are bananas and I feel like eating them, I chop them up and add them into the milk mixture. :P Ate introduced me to that… Shhh ;)

8. I think I am obsessive-compulsive. I’m not gonna delve into that issue deeper, so you’ll just have to observe me. :P

Hmm… Those are all that I can think of at the moment. Should any pop out out of my pool of thoughts, be sure that I will post them here. :P Until then, ciao!

Woohoo!

April 30, 2007
